Kile and BKR Capture Top-Five Finish at Talladega RACE REPORT

Mikey Kile, driver of the No. 29 Greased Lightning Cleaning Products Chevrolet, heads back to Kentucky after a career-best, fourth-place finish at Talladega two weeks ago.

Kile participated in the ARCA/REMAX Series test session at Kentucky Speedway last week, posting overall sixth fastest for the day. Kile tested with around 20 other drivers to prepare for the upcoming Drive Smart Buckle-Up Kentucky 150.

By taking advantage of the test session, Kile and the BKR team were able to gain much-needed experience heading into this week's event. "We tested really well. Kentucky is an interesting place; I've tested there and watched races there but it's no substitute for the actual race." Kile said. "I feel like we have a top five car for this weekend, but I still have high hopes for a win."

Lesson Learned: Mikey Kile Runs Strong Early in the ARCA car; Involved in "Big One" Late at Daytona

After qualifying 15th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Friday afternoon at Daytona Int'l Speedway, Kile, driver of the No. 29 Greased Lightning Chevrolet had hopes for a top-five finish in Saturday's season-opener. And Kile had good reason for his optimism.
Once the green waved, Kile pulled his Brad Keselowski Racing mount into the top five for much of the early stages of the 200-mile event. But things happen fast at 185 mph, and Kile unfortunately found out.

While running second, Kile tangled with Mario Gosselin. The result was a 12-car melee that brought out the third caution of the day.

" I had an awesome car and I couldn't ask for a better team of guys to work with," said Kile. "Our weekend was off to a great start. After qualifying, we realized the car was faster than we originally thought, and we felt we were in for a possible top-five finish. I learned a lot at Daytona and looking forward to going to Talladega."

Anyone that has ever held a steering wheel has aspired to make laps around Daytona Intl Speedway. For rookie Mikey Kile, his wish will come true on Saturday, Feb. 7 in the ARCA RE/MAX Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200.

Kile will pilot No. 29 Greased Lightning Chevrolet in the season-opening event in Daytona.

"I can't wait for the season to get started,” said Kile, a native of Westlake, La. "Being able to be a part of BKR is an honor. After our test at Daytona, I knew this was the right place for me. It makes you feel good when you know your team wants to win as bad as you do.”

That team will be led by crew chief Wayne Setterington Jr., a veteran crew chief and former racer.

"We're extremely excited about the addition of Mikey Kile to Brad Keselowski Racing and looking forward to a successful year in both the ARCA Series and Camping World Truck Series for 2009,” said Setterington. "I th ink 2009 will be a great year for both BKR and Mikey. We have known each other for a few years now, and I have watched him continue to progress year after year.”

Kile's progression started to pick up momentum in 2008. After competing in the UARA-Stars Series in 2007, racking up six top-10 finishes in 15 races, Kile moved up to the USAR Pro Cup Northern Division, grabbed his first win in just his fourth start and finished third in regular season points.

Bolstering Kile's efforts in 2009 will be the addition of Greased Lightning as primary sponsor. Greased Lightning has a storied history in motorsports marketing and Kile hopes to add a few chapters this season.

"Having Greased Lightning come on board as a primary sponsor certainly helps our cause,” said Kile. "And our goals are very similar. They want to run up front and contend for wins. I want the same thing. With the backing of BKR and Greased Lightning, I think those goals are obtainable.”
