The 600 mile-challenge that is the annual Memorial Day Weekend event, the Coca-Cola 600 is a daunting one for any team, and while Brad Keselowski and his team made it look easy early, eventually the long day caught up with them.

Brad led the race five times for a total of 76 laps, including taking the top spot in each of the first two stages of the event. But a loose wheel condition that developed shortly after his pit stop during the break between stages two and three forced BK to take an extra trip down pit road, dropping him back in the pack.

Though he clawed back into contention, handling once again became an issue late in the race after he brushed the wall with 15 laps to go. His tire began to go down and although he tried to hold on to secure a Top 10 finish, with eight laps to go, that issue sent him spinning and brought out the race’s final caution. Instead, he settled for a P19 finish which didn’t do justice to the car the 2 team had put on the track for most of the evening.

“We had power steering issues and I got into the wall late in the race. A few laps later I cut the right-rear tire and spun. That pretty much ended our night.”
