Of the now three road courses on the Monster Energy Cup Series schedule, Watkins Glen International is by far Brad Keselowski’s best and his string of good runs continued there on Sunday afternoon.

Consistency was the name of the game as Brad and the 2 Crew nabbed their third consecutive top-10 finish and 12th of the 2019 season in the Go Bowling at The Glen.

The 2 car started from 10th position and ran strong in the Top 10 from the start. Pit strategy at the end of Stage 1 caused him to slipped to 28th, but he excelled in Stage 2, taking advantage of a pair of cautions and electing not to take a pit stop when the stage ended under caution. He was just outside the Top 5 in P6 when Stage 2 ended and that call helped the 2 car pick up its sixth top-10 result in the past nine races.

After briefly breaking into the Top 5, he took his final pit stop from P6. However, a long green-flag run to end the race didn’t work in his favor as a few cars passed the Autotrader Ford Mustang in the final laps of the 90-lap event as he settled for the P9 finish.

“Our Autotrader Ford was a fifth to tenth-place kind of car all weekend and we ended up ninth. I thought we could have been a little bit better at the end if I would have done a few things different, but nowhere near the speed we needed to run with the Gibbs cars or the 9 car (Chase Elliott), so we made the most of the weekend with what we had.”

With four races remaining before the postseason, BK remains sixth overall NASCAR Cup Series standings. He trails first place by 123 points. However, his 19 playoff points rank third.
